About McIlvaine

Chris McIlvaine is a committed physical therapist practicing at Advantage Physical Therapy in Falls Church, VA. Chris specializes in treating patients with a variety of orthopedic conditions and sports related injuries.

Chris is a native of Alexandria, VA attending Bishop Ireton High School. He then attended The University of South Carolina and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. Following his undergraduate degree, Chris attended physical therapy school at Touro College in Bay Shore, NY. He was the valedictorian of his physical therapy class and recipient of Touro College’s Highest Achievement in Clinical Excellence Award. Once leaving New York, Chris returned to the Northern Virginia area. After many years of being a former patient and a physical therapy technician at the clinic, he joined the Advantage Physical Therapy group.

Being a former patient, Chris is conscious of the physical and emotional toll an injury can take on a patient and tries to incorporate empathy and knowledge of the patient experience to treat the patient as a whole and not just an injury. Being on both ends of the treatment experience motivates him to help patients achieve the best outcome possible using the latest treatment techniques and evidenced based medicine. Chris enjoys treating patients of all ages with different orthopedic, musculoskeletal, and neuromuscular conditions. He also has a special interest in sports rehabilitation and recently became a certified strength and conditioning specialist.

When Chris is not in the clinic, he is an avid weightlifter and enjoys anything and everything to do with sports; especially anything involving the greatest team in all of college football “The South Carolina Gamecocks.” Chris is excited to help patients reach their goals and return to the activities that they are passionate about.
